In 2017, School of Rock and Media LTD, Bradford College and Bradford University made a commitment to stopping hate crime in Bradford and
bringing together communities.
The next step in this project is to use Active Citizen to unite our community after the devastating impact on COVID-19 on the arts. 18 to 25s have been overwhelmingly affected by the pandemic and we want to use Active Citizen as a platform for young professionals to express their thoughts and feelings about what has happened and the future through music and the arts.
We need leaders. We need artists. We need activists. We know you’ve had to stay indoors, but we know that doesn’t mean you’ve stayed quiet. We want to give a platform to the people who can bring communities back together and inspire their peers to become active citizens in their community and lead the charge. In a time when it would be easy to stay the same we’re looking for those ready to make a difference.
We’ve seen a rise in people taking action in their community as Lockdown has started to lift; from Black Lives Matter to people actively encouraging the people around them to pursue healthy habits and take care of their mental health, and we want to invest in the cultural capital being created.
